On 26 July 1999, the Indian Army successfully liberated India’s land from Pakistani intruders by successfully carrying out Operation Vijay during the Kargil War. In its memory, 26 July is celebrated every year as Kargil Day.

This is the day to remember and pay homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives while protecting the motherland. This day is dedicated to those who sacrificed themselves today for our tomorrow.

On the 21st anniversary of Kargil Day, Honorable Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi also tweeted and pay tribute to our brave soldiers. He said On Kargil Vijay Diwas, we remember the courage and determination of our armed forces, who steadfastly protected our nation in 1999. Their valour continues to inspire generations. #CourageInKargil

Kargil War: Kargil War was started in the Kargil district of Kashmir in the month of May in 1999 between India and Pakistan. The reason for this war was that Pakistan tried to enter the Line of Control so as to capture peaks and road connecting Leh-Ladakh to India to threaten our national identity by weakening India’s position on the Siachen-Glacier.

The war lasted more than two months and the Indian Army and Air Force had killed the invaders who had entered their homeland despite orders not to cross the line of control. By shedding their own blood, these soldiers have given us freedom. They are true heroes in every sense. We pay our tribute to their sacrifice.

Jai Hind ! Salute to our Brave Martyrs!
