Happy Holi 2021: How to play Holi without damaging eyes

Holi color and Gulal can damage the skin as well as the eyes. If Holi color goes into the eyes, then it starts burning. There may be blindness for some time or even blindness forever. Particles of dry colors can penetrate directly into the eye causing problems. Water guns and water balloons can also hurt the eyes. Synthetic dyes contain lead-like metals, which can cause many problems such as eye allergies, conjunctivitis, chemical burns, corneal abrasion, or blunt eye injuries. In such a situation, it is important to take precautions.

Cover the eyes

 If someone applies color to the face, then close the eyes or cover the eyes with the palms. One can wear sunglasses while playing Holi. This will prevent the color as well as the colored water from going into the eyes.  

Do not wear Contact lenses

Avoid wearing contact lenses while playing Holi. If you can’t live without it, make your eyes don’t get colored. If the color goes into the eyes, immediately remove the lenses and wash the eyes with clean water.

Do not rub the eye

If the color goes into the eyes, first wash them with water. If there is a burning sensation in the eyes, avoid rubbing them at any cost. Rubbing the eye will worsen the situation.

Apply oil on the skin

Apply coconut oil around th eye befor playing Holi. The oil will prevent the color from entering the eyes.

Even after all these precautions, if you experience any kind of burning sensation in the eyes and persistent redness, swelling appear, see a doctor immediately. To have a safe and happy Holi, use natural products like flowers, turmeric, and organic colors.
