World Water Day 2021: World Water Day is celebrated every year on 22 March to make people understand the importance of water and to provide clean water to everyone.

For the last many years, the Water crisis has increased among the people. World Water Day is celebrated every year on 22 March to explain the importance of water to people all over the world and to provide clean water and know various ways to save the water.

Why World Water Day is Important?

Three fourth of the earth is filled with water but only three percent of it is potable, i.e. drinkable water. Two percent of the three percent is in the form of ice and glacier, which means it can’t be used. In such a situation, only one percent of water is fit for us to drink.

Reasons behind Water Pollution

Trees are constantly being pruned.

Pollution is increasing due to industrial and vehicular smoke.

The waste coming from the factories goes to the rivers, due to which the remaining water is also being contaminated.

World Water Day Theme 2021

The first world water day was celebrated on 22 March 1993. The  World Water Day was initiated in 1992 during the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro.

Every year a theme of World Water Day is set. This year’s theme is “Valuing Water”, which aims to make people understand the importance of water. Due to the scarcity of water, the rural people in India have to migrate to cities in search of water. There are many countries in the world where people still do not have access to clean drinking water and they face health-related problems by drinking dirty water. The value of water is much more than its price – water has enormous and complex value for our households, food, culture, health, education, economics, and the integrity of our natural environment.
