Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel launched the film Lakeerein trailer, which depicts social evils, at Raj Bhavan and also reviewed the trailer.

Lakeerein film is directed by Durgesh Pathak. Based on the horrific subject of marital rape, the film presents the complexities of consent and domestic violence within the realm of marriage.

The movie depicts Kavya’s (Tia Bajpai) struggle as she seeks justice against her husband, Vivek Damodar Agnihotri (Gaurav Chopra), for the horrible act of marital rape. The film shows Kavya’s fight for justice, which focuses on the legal and societal obstacles that victims of marital rape face. ‘Lakeerein’ shows the scars of marital rape not only on her life but also on the lives of her maid Naseema and her friend Anita, both of whom had faced similar crimes in their marriages.

In the courtroom, Bidita Bag’s character, Advocate Geeta Bishwas, faces off against Ashutosh Rana’s character, Advocate Dudhari Singh.

 Lakeerein is going to be released on November 03, 2023. The film is produced by Image & Creation, BTC Multimedia, and Blackpearl Movies. Ashutosh Rana, Bidita Bag, Tia Bajpayee, Gaurav Chopra, and other actors are there in the movie.
