In the 22nd match of the 13th season of Dream 11 IPL 2020, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Kings XI Punjab by 69 runs. It was Hyderabad’s biggest win in the IPL against Punjab. Earlier in 2019, Hyderabad defeated Punjab by 45 runs. The match held in Dubai, Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat, giving up a huge target of 202 runs. Jonny Bairstow missed his century and was bowled out for 97. Also, David Warner (52) scored 50+ for the 50th time. He scored over 50 for the ninth time in a row against Punjab. Punjab’s Ravi Bishnoi took 3 wickets, Arshdeep Singh 2 wickets, and Mohammad Shami 1 wicket. In reply, Punjab were all out for 132 in 16.5 overs.
With this win, Hyderabad has advanced to the third position in the points table. Jonny Bairstow scored 97 runs. He was also nominated for the Man of the Match award. Meanwhile, Rashid Khan took 3 wickets for 12 runs. Apart from Rashid, Khalil Ahmed, D Natarajan 2-2, Abhishek Sharma took one wicket.
This is the 5th and fourth consecutive defeat of Kings XI of this season. Punjab have played a total of 6 matches so far, won only one of them. He has lost all other matches. Punjab is at the bottom in the point table with the 2 points.
Pooran reached the fastest fifty of the season
Punjab’s Nicholas Pooran hit the fastest fifty of the season in just 17 balls. Pooran scored 77 off 37 balls. He hit 5 fours and 7 sixes in his innings. He was knocked out by Rashid Khan. Earlier, Rajasthan Royals’ Sanju Samson hit a fifty off 19 balls against Chennai. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians’ Kieron Pollard hit a half-century off 20 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Punjab lost 2 wickets in Power Play as the team did not start properly. Mayank Aggarwal, who watched in rhythm, was run out for after scoring 9 in the second over of the innings. After this, PrabhSimran Singh came out to bat and Khaleel Ahmed was dismissed for 11 not out. Lokesh Rahul and Nicholas Pooran scored 45 runs in 6 overs. Lokesh Rahul got caught on the Abhishek Sharma bowl in the arms of Kane Williamson. Rahul managed to score only 11 runs
Warner-Bairstow shared 160-run opening partnership for Hyderabad
David Warner and Johnny Bairstow shared 160 for the first wicket. Bairstow scored 97 off 55 balls. During this time he hit 7 fours and 6 sixes. Meanwhile, David Warner scored 52 off 40 balls.
