Hariyali TEEJ 2019: Celebration of Happiness and Greenery

Hariyali Teej or Shravani Teej is celebrated on Tritiya of Shukla Paksha in the month of Shravan or Sawan. Teej is a Monsoon festival as it comes in monsoon season. Teej is mainly celebrated in North India. In eastern Uttar Pradesh, this festival is also celebrated as Kajali Teej.

This year the Hariyali Teej festival is on 3 August 2019. In this monsoon festival of women, nature gets covered with greenery and everyone seems to be happy. This festival is a representation of faith, beauty, and love.

Teej is celebrated to commemorate the reunion of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. Mata Parvati is also known as Teej Mata and women worship her to get a husband like lord shiva.

On this occasion, women swings, sing Teej songs and celebrate happiness. They also receive gifts in the form of dress, bangles, heena, and cosmetics from the family.
