Akshaya Tritiya or Akha Teej falls on  Tritiya Tithi of ShuklaPaksha in Vaishakh month. According to the mythological texts, the results are auspicious of whatever work is performed on this day. That is the reason it is called Akshaya Tritiya. Although the Shukla-sided Tritiya is auspicious for all twelve months, the date of Vaisakh month is considered to be in the Swayam Siddha Muhurta. This year this divine and sacred day are going to celebrate on April 26. This day is joyfully celebrated by Hindu and Jain community in India.

Akshaya Tritiya also has special significance in the form of the best known Muhurta. It is believed that on this day any auspicious work such as marriage, house-entry, purchase of clothes ornaments or purchase of a house, plots, vehicles, etc. can be done without seeing any almanac. It is written in the Puranas that the tarpan and pind-daan or any other kind of donation made to the ancestors on this day, provides the renewable results.

On this day, all sins are destroyed by bathing in the Ganga and worshiping God. Even chanting, austerity, hawan, swadhyaya, and charity performed on this day also become three folds. Apart from this, if this Tritiya starts before midday and lasts until the Pradosh period, then it is considered very good. It is also believed that on this day, if a person prays for forgiveness from God with a genuine mind of unintentional crimes committed by him or by his own people, then God forgives his sins and gives him virtue.
