Shillong- Explore the Abode of Clouds

The beautiful city of Shillong is one of the significant vacation goals of the northeast. It is known to as the “Scotland of the East” because of its hitting comparability with the Scottish countries. The city gets its name from “Leishyllong”- the Superpower or God who is worship by the locals. The Khasi, Jaintia and Garo clans are famous tribes and add variety to the city.
The capital of Meghalaya, Shillong lies on the eastern piece of the state. Rested at a height of 1,520 meters (4,990 feet) above ocean level, the city extends for around 6 km on a raised track.
Travelers wind up lost in Nature particularly during monsoon. Energetically strolling local people, tourists, honeymooning couples and the general population indulged in routine life, together with the charming atmosphere present an honorable picture.
In the East Khasi Hills district in the Indian state of Meghalaya, a small village Mawlynnong declared as Asia’s cleanest village and it’s the place due to which shilling is known as Abode of clouds.
Those who are nature lovers and admire watching flora and fauna, the umiam lake is a place for them. It is a man-made reservoir encircled by lush green east Khasi hills.
Shillong is a house of waterfalls that become more beautiful during monsoon. Some names that are worth mentioning include Beadon fall, Bishops falls, Crinoline Falls, Elephant Falls, Spread Eagle, and Sweet falls. Elephant falls are the most famous falls in Shillong and best place to rejoice for nature lovers.
Shillong also has the golf course for golf lovers and it is the oldest one. There is a number of museums like Wankhar Entomological Museum, Air Force Museum, Forest Museum, Rhino Heritage Museum, Zoological Museum, Anthropological Museum, Botanical Museum, Arunachal Museum.
The climatic conditions of Shillong are quite comfortable throughout the year but the best time to visit the place is after the monsoon. As in monsoon, the place receives heavy rainfall and then it will not be suitable to explore the place.
