National doctor’s day 2020: Lessen the mortality of COVID 19

The doctor is like a God who cures us and gives us a new life. National doctor’s day provides us an opportunity to thank doctors, physicians, and Nurses for the efforts they do for the patients. In India, Doctor’s Day is observed on 1 July.

National Doctor’s Day theme 2020: Lessen the Mortality of COVID 19

The theme of this year’s Doctors Day is “Lessen the mortality of COVID 19”. The objective of the theme is to raise awareness about asymptomatic hypoxia and early aggressive therapy. During COVID-19 Pandemic, doctors are working round the clock to save the lives of patients infected from Coronavirus. Doctors Day of 2020 is dedicated to the innumerable doctors who are serving during this epidemic in the primary and secondary care setups as well as the dedicated COVID care hospitals. Wherever one is, it is a time that every single effort counts. Indian Medical Association gives the clarion call to reduce the mortality drastically by active intervention.

Why Doctor’s Day is Celebrated?

National Doctor’s Day is celebrated to pay tribute to the legendary physician and West Bengal’s second Chief Minister, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy whose birth and death anniversary concur on the same day i.e July 1. Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy was honored with India’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna. The central government established the national doctors’ day in 1991, to pay honor to Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy.

In different countries, Doctor’s Day is celebrated on different dates such as in the United States it is observed on 30 March, in Iran on 23 August, and in Cuba on 3rd December.

National Doctor’s day honors the whole medical profession and highlights the value of doctors in our lives.
