Having studied Commerce in Class 11th-12th allows students to choose from a multitude of courses at graduation level, but Students are normally confused as to what degree or professional course to pursue after 12th commerce to build up a good and successful career. 1.Bachelors of Commerce (B.com)

B.com is a most popular 3-year undergraduate degree course after 12th commerce among commerce students. During this course, students are taught the fundamentals of finance and accounting beyond the basics that were covered during high school education. B.com is pursed as a full time or a correspondence course, if you are pursuing a professional course like CA or CS Correspondence course will be your choice.

2. Chartered Accountancy (CA)

Chartered Accountant is the most preferred course by commerce students after 12th. CA is the professional course offered by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Becoming a Chartered Accountant opens the various avenues of exciting career opportunities. You can act as an auditor, tax consultant, and a financial advisor. CA usually takes 5 years to complete and is divided into 3 stages:

  • CPT
  • IPCC
  • Final

After completion of CA, you can either practice independently or you can settle for a corporate job.

3. Company Secretary (CS)

Many students opt Company Secretary course after 12th commerce. CS is another Professional course offered by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India. Company Secretary is responsible for regulatory compliance of the company and acts as an in-house legal advisor. CS qualified individuals can either practice independently or can get employed in the corporate world.

4. Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA)

If you are aiming to make a career in business management than BBA is the right career option for you after 12th commerce. Business administration is a three-year-full-time course that builds a foundation in core business disciplines, explores different functional areas of a business environment, and getting exposure to the different business aspects. While many BBA colleges offer admission based on Class 12 score, but few colleges ask students to go through entrance exams.

5. Bachelors in Economics (B.A. Eco)

Bachelor in economics is a good career option for commerce students to pursue after12th. This course will give you practical knowledge of various economic policies, international trade, analytical techniques, economic concepts, and government policies. If you want to specialize in the economics or economic framework than B.A. Eco is a course for you after 12th commerce.

6. Cost and Management Accountant (CMA)

Cost and management accountant is a beneficial course after 12th commerce offered by The Institute of Cost Accountants of India(ICWAI).The key roles of a cost accountant include:

  • Cost auditing
  • Controlling and costing of products
  • Production operations and processes
  • Maintaining cost account records

Students after completing this course can do self-practice as a CMA or hold managerial positions in public or private enterprises.

7. B.Sc. Hotel Management

If you are seeking a career in the hospitality sector than B.Sc.  Hotel Management also known as Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM)is a creative career option after 12th commerce. B. Sc. in Hotel Management is a three-year undergraduate course. This course is a combination of hospitality, tourism, and management. Academically this course is divided into three groups front office, kitchen, and housekeeping, students can choose field according to their interest. Institute of Hotel Management (IHM)is the leading group of colleges that offer Hotel Management courses. The candidates are required to clear the entrance exam – NCHMCT- JEE (National Council for Hotel Management – Joint Entrance Exam).

8. Bachelors of Computer Application- BCA ( IT & Software)

Bachelors of computer application is a three-year undergraduate degree course pursued by the students who wish to learn computer coding and computer application development. Students who have opted for mathematics subject during their 12th commerce are eligible to take up the BCA course after 12th commerce.

9. Bachelor in Journalism and Mass Communication- (BJMC)

If a student is good at writing and public speaking then Journalism and Mass Communication (BJMC) is a good career option after 12th commerce. BJMC is a three-year-full-time duration undergraduate degree course. Candidates who complete BJMC can choose to work for newspapers, news channels, publishing houses, radio, television, digital media, etc.

10. Certified Financial Planner

Many students develop interests in wealth management, insurance planning, investment in the mutual fund, and then certified financial planner is a perfect course after 12th commerce. The Financial Planning Standards Board of India (FPSBI) offers a technical program that trained commerce students and makes them certified financial planner.
