In 1961 on April 12, a soviet Union cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin circled the Earth for 1 hour and 48 minutes. The spacecraft he used for his mission was VOSTOK 1. Gagarin’s flight created a milestone for the Soviet space program, opening a new age in the history of space exploration.
