Vice Admiral Atul Anand Appointed as  New Director General of Naval Operations

On Saturday, Vice Admiral Atul Anand took the position of Director General of Naval Operations (DGNO). The DGNO is responsible for the operational readiness of the Indian Navy and oversees the planning and execution of naval operations. Vice Admiral Anand has a distinguished career in the Indian Navy, having served in various operational and staff appointments.

Vice Admiral Anand was commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1988 and has served on various ships, including INS Delhi, INS Ranvijay, and INS Brahmaputra. He has also served as the Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet and as the Chief Staff Officer (Operations) of the Eastern Naval Command. His previous positions include being Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Foreign Cooperation and Intelligence), Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor at the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area, and Flag Officer Commanding Karnataka Naval Area. In addition, he served as navigator and direction officer for INAS 300, a squadron of Sea Harriers.

Vice Admiral Anand is a graduate of the National Defence Academy and the Defence Services Staff College. He has also attended the Naval Higher Command Course and the National Defence College. He has been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Vishisht Seva Medal for his distinguished service in the Indian Navy.
