UFC 320: Alex Pereira Reclaims His Title
Alex Pereira took his revenge on Magomed Ankalaev in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Magomed Ankalaev had beaten Pereira by unanimous decision at UFC 313 in March this year.
This time, Alex Pereira started aggressively with his striking. He pushed Ankalaev near the fence, kept himself close, and landed a strong punch on Ankalaev’s face. He then took him to the mat and pounded back-to-back elbows on his body and face to secure a knockout win in Round 1 — in just 120 seconds.
Alex Pereira became only the third fighter to win the Light Heavyweight Championship multiple times.
Pereira’s aggression gave Ankalaev no time to react, and the fight ended in no time. Alex also put an end to all the trash talk by Magomed Ankalaev about his career and past. Magomed had commented before the fight that UFC picks easy opponents for Pereira and even mocked that he would go back to the tire shop where he worked in his teenage years due to poverty.
Before the fight, Alex Pereira had said, “I don’t want to go back to the tire shop.”
