Kerala is the state located on the southwestern Malabar Coast of India. It was actually formed on November 1st of the year 1956, following the passage of States Reorganization Acts by comprising Malayalam – speaking regions of the erstwhile states of Travancore – Cochin, and Madras. Kerala is bordered by Lakshadweep Sea to the West, Karnataka to the North and Northeast and Tamil Nadu to the East and South. Kerala is considered to be the 13th largest State according to the population. Kerala consists of 14 districts. Thiruvananthapuram is the Capital city of Kerala. Malayalam is spoken by the majority of the people here.

Kerala is widely known for the palm-lined beaches, a network of canals, and backwaters. Tea, spice, and coffee plantations are widely seen here. Kerala is counted by National Geographic Traveler as the top Ten Paradises of the World. The demography of the State makes it an attractive tourist destination.

Kerala has two major political alliances which are known to be UDF, that is, ‘United Democratic Front’ and LDF, that is, ‘Left Democratic Front’ which is led by the Communist Party of India who is also known as Marxists or CPI(M). The ruling coalition currently is LDF, which is ‘Left Democratic Front’ by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who is of the Communist Party of India. The Leader of Opposition is Ramesh Chennithala who is from the UDF.
