The population of Leopards increased in India by 60%

According to the new report of “status of leopard in India 2018” released by Shri Prakash Javedekar, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change shows India now has 12,852 leopards. The number has increased more than 60% in the population over the previous survey which was conducted in 2014.
The States such as Madhya Pradesh (3,421), Karnataka (1783), and Maharashtra (1690) has recorded the highest leopard figures. This increase in Tiger, Lion & Leopards population over the last few years is evidence in attaining conservation of wildlife & biodiversity.
