MG Motor launches MG Comet EV electric car in India at ₹7.98 lakh

MG Motor India has launched the MG Comet EV, India’s smallest electric car, at an introductory price of Rs 7.98 lakh. The car is based on SAIC-GM-Wuling’s Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform and has a range of 230km on a single full charge. It has a 17.3kWh lithium-ion battery with an estimated 0-100% charging time of 7 hours with 3.3kW charger.
The MG Comet EV is a two-door, four-seat car that measures less than three meters in length and stands 1,640 mm tall. It is the smallest all-electric vehicle in India and one of the smallest cars in the country. The car has a 42PS/110Nm electric motor. The Comet EV is MG Motor India’s second all-electric model after the ZS EV.
The new MG car is priced between Rs 10-15 lakh. The car is positioned below the ZS EV in MG’s electric lineup. The car has two digital screens, tyre pressure monitoring system, and a rearview camera. The car has a top speed of 80 km/h and can accelerate from 0-60 km/h in few seconds. The car has a ground clearance of 161mm and a wheelbase of 2,010mm.
The two-door hatch comes with an automatic transmission, two front airbags , Disc (Front) + Drum (Rear) brakes and a reverse parking camera, among various other features. It is also equipped with an inbuilt iSmart system that supports over 55 connected car features and over 100 voice commands.
