MAHABALESHWAR- Hill station famous for strawberries

Among the topmost tourist attraction in Maharashtra, Mahabaleshwar is the one that attracts tourists in a large number. It is the largest hill station of Maharashtra located in the Sahyadri range. Mahabaleshwar is known for its vast and beautiful Strawberries farm which produces berry products with freshly grown strawberries. Apart from its strawberries, Mahabaleshwar is also known for its rivers, waterfalls, hills, valleys, temples, and awesome weather.

Due to the high altitude of 1372 m above sea level in Satara district, the town has a cool climate. The town is often referred to as the Queen of hill stations in Maharashtra. There are several spectacular viewpoints of hills, valleys, and waterfalls.

One of the famous tourist spots in Mahabaleshwar is Elephant’s Point which is known for its serene beauty and greenery. Elephant’s point got its name as the rock formations at the site are present in a way that forms the trunk of an elephant.

To view the waterfalls in Mahabaleshwar, Chinaman’s fall is the most significant falls in the state. It’s a bewitching experience for tourists. For the boat riders, Venna lake is the best place to visit. It is a man-made lake covered from trees all over.

To watch the sunrise and sunset, the highest point in Mahabaleshwar, the Wilson point attracts the tourists. It is named after Sir Leslie Wilson, the Governor of Bombay from 1923 to 1926.

Apart from nature and picturesque beauty, Mahabaleshwar has Mahabaleshwar temple which is an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The main attraction of the temple is the 6 feet long Shiva lingam of which only the tip is visible. The devotees feel spirituality in the calm and composed environment of the temple.

Some other destinations that are worth viewing are Arthur’s seat, Panchgani, trekking at Pratapgad fort, Lingmala waterfalls, and many more.
