Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 48 runs in the 13th match of the 13th season of the Dream 11 IPL 2020. Mumbai lost the toss and opted to bat and scored 192 runs. In reply, Punjab managed 143 for 8 wickets. It was Mumbai’s biggest win against Punjab. Earlier, in 2016, Mumbai beat Punjab by 25 runs. With this match, Rohit Sharma also became the third player to score 5000 runs in the IPL. Nicholas Pooran became the top-scorer with 47 from Punjab. Meanwhile, Mumbai’s Rahul Chahar, Jaspreet Bumrah, and James Pattinson took 2-2 wickets. Krunal Pandya and Trent Boult took 1–1 wicket.

Punjab 5 batsmen could not touch even ten figures. Krishnappa Gautham scored 22 not out. At the same time, Glenn Maxwell can score 11 runs. For this, he played 18 balls. He was knocked out by Rahul Chahar. Apart from this, Jimmy Neesham and Sarfraz Khan scored 7-7 runs. Karun Nair could not even open his account. In the end, Mohammad Shami remained not out after scoring 2 runs.

Mumbai scored 191 runs for 4 wickets

Captain Rohit Sharma scored highest with 70 runs. Apart from Rohit, Kieron Pollard was unbeaten on 47 off 20 balls and Hardik Pandya was unbeaten on 30 off 11 balls. They shared a partnership of 67 off 23 balls. Pollard was awarded the Man of the Match award. In Powerplay, Punjab’s Cottrell and Mohammad Shami have taken more wickets in the IPL this season. Mumbai has scored 89 runs in the last 5 overs. In the last match too, Mumbai Indians scored 89 runs in the last 5 overs to take the match to the Super Over. Earlier in IPL 2016, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) scored 112 runs in the last 4 overs against Gujarat Lions. Also in 2019, Bangalore added 91 runs in the last 4 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders.
