Honey has the goodness of antibacterial and antimicrobial properties and is an effective cough remedy. Make a tea by mixing honey in warm water or make a mixture of honey, lemon, and cinnamon and take this 2-3 times a day. It is always better to take honey before sleeping as it helps in reducing night coughs. Do not give honey to children below 1 year of age.

2. Gargle with saltwater

Gargling with salt water is an old-school remedy that helps in preventing respiratory infections. Gargling with salt water also reduces sore throat pain and nasal congestion. Add 1 tablespoon salt in hot water and gargle with it. Do this remedy 3 times a day.

3. Turmeric milk

Turmeric is an essential ingredient found in almost every kitchen. Turmeric is rich in antioxidants and has antiseptic properties and helps in treating cough and cold. 4. Steam

Steam decreases nasal congestion and sinus pressure and makes inhalation easy. To do this, fill a large bowl with hot water, lean over the bowl and place a towel over the head. Breathe in the vapors for 5 minutes. Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil and rosemary oil to make steam inhalation more effective.
