Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology is also commonly known as Pantnagar University. This university is also the first agricultural university of India. Established in the year 1960, the university was inaugurated by Jawahar Lal Nehru. Earlier it was known by the name “Uttar Pradesh University” but in 1972 the name was dedicated to Bharat Ratna recipient Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant.
