Veteran Actor Dilip Kumar dies at an age of 98, PM remembered him as a cinematic legend

Veteran film actor Dilip Kumar passed away on Wednesday at the age of 98. He was unwell for the past several days and was admitted to the hospital several times. His body will be buried at 5 pm at Juhu Cemetery in Santacruz, Mumbai. Confirming the death of Dilip Kumar, Dr. Jalil Palkar of Hinduja Hospital told that he breathed his last at 7.30 am on Wednesday.

One of his family friends Faisal Farooqui informed about the death from Dilip Kumar’s Twitter handle at 8 am. The tweet read, “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him, we return. – Faisal Farooqui

On the death of Dilip Kumar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tweeted and described it as a loss to the cultural world. He wrote in the tweet, ” Dilip Kumar Ji will be remembered as a cinematic legend. He was blessed with unparalleled brilliance, due to which audiences across generations were enthralled. His passing away is a loss to our cultural world. Condolences to his family, friends, and innumerable admirers. RIP.”

Dilip Kumar, originally names Mohammed Yusuf Khan born 11 December 1922 was an Indian actor, film producer, and philanthropist, best known for his work in Hindi cinema. He is referred to as the “Tragedy King” and “The First Khan”. He has been credited for bringing a distinct form of method acting technique to the cinema.
