Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahlawat, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Indraneil Sengupta starrer The Broken News, a ZEE5 show, directed by Vinay Waikul, will begin streaming on June 10.

The Broken News, the OTT debut of Bollywood diva Sonali Bendre, just had its trailer released by ZEE5. The drama, which also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Indraneil Sengupta, Faisal Rashid, and Kiran Kumar, is an official remake of the iconic British television series Press. The streaming platform unveiled the show’s trailer on Friday, and from the initial look, the show appears to be in a tug of war between news and marketing stories.

The teaser begins with one journalist accusing another of being a “terrorist.” The characters, who are driven and ambitious, are introduced quickly. On one side is Amina Qureshi’s (Sonali Bendre) Awaaz Bharati, an ethical and reliable news channel, whereas Dipankar Sanyal’s (Jaideep Ahlawat) Josh 24/7 dominates the ratings by selling sensationalism. Shriya, as a young energetic journalist, reflects a culture that struggles to strike a balance between the two extremes of media in modern times. The producers have vowed to delve deeply into the business and politics of media, as well as how ambition can trump integrity when the pressure of ‘breaking news’ mounts.

The Broken News is directed by Vinay Waikul, and funded by BBC Studios, will go live on June 10th.
