The Hindi teaser of Mani Ratnam’s much-awaited magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan: Part One, was unveiled today. Actors Suriya, Mahesh Babu, Mohanlal, Rakshit Shetty, and Amitabh Bachchan released the teaser in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, respectively.

The one–minute teaser is grand and shows glimpses of Aditya Karikalan (Vikram),  Vanthiyathevan (Karthi), Queen Nandini (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), Kundavai (Trisha), and Arulmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi).

The magnum opus also features Ashwin Kakumanu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sarath Kumar, Vikram Prabhu, Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Lal, Parthiban,  Jayachitra, Riyaz Khan in pivotal roles.

Ponniyin Selvan is a film adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s historical novel of the same name. The movie will be released in two parts. The PS 1 teaser has been released. Ponniyin Selvan: Part One screenplay has been written by Mani Ratnam, Jeyamohan and Kumaravel. Produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, PS 1 is slated to hit the big screens on September 30

The story takes place in the 10th century, during Chola Empire when power struggles between different ruling families were going on. All of this political and military turmoil results in the Cholas becoming the continent’s most prosperous and powerful empire. The film is really an adventure epic.
