PM Modi receives the first Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award at a ceremony in Mumbai

Today, at the 80th annual Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Awards ceremony in Mumbai, the first Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award was presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his selfless service to the nation and society.

The Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award was instituted in the memory and honour of the legendary Singer and Nightingale of India, Lata Mangeshkar who died on February 6 this year.

Modi dedicated his award to all citizens of the country. While addressing , he said “As Lata Didi belonged to people, this award given to me in her name also belongs to people”.

Music has the ability to take you to the summit of patriotism and devotion. We are all lucky to have witnessed the power of music in the person of Lata didi,” Modi remarked. What can be a greater privilege than to have received the love of a sister from Lata Didi, who has given the gift of love and emotion to generations, he said.

Further, he added “She gave voice to India before independence, and the country’s journey of these 75 years has also been associated with her voice.

According to Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan charitable trust, the award will be given each year to only one individual who dedicatedly work for the society and country’people.
