Pakistan Beats South Africa in 1st Test at Home

Pakistan is playing a full series against South Africa at home – 2 Tests, 3 T20Is, and 3 ODIs. The first Test was played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, from 12 to 15 October. Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first.

Pakistan’s start wasn’t good as Shafique got out early. Imam-ul-Haq and captain Masood built a strong partnership to steady the innings. Imam scored 93 and Masood scored 76. Later, Rizwan (75) and T20I captain Salman Agha (93) helped Pakistan post a total of 378 in the first innings.

For South Africa, Senuran Muthusamy impressed everyone with his spin bowling, taking 6 wickets. Subrayen picked 2 wickets, while Rabada and Harmer shared 1 each.

Chasing in the first innings, South Africa lost Markram early. But Ryan Rickelton and Tony de Zorzi absorbed the pressure well. Rickelton scored 71, and Tony scored a brilliant century. South Africa fell short and were all out for 269, giving Pakistan a 109-run lead. Noman Ali took 6 wickets, Sajid Khan 3, and Agha Salman 1.

In Pakistan’s second innings, Imam got out for a duck. Shafique scored 41, Babar 42, and Saud Shakeel 38, as Pakistan posted 167 runs. Muthusamy again shined with the ball, taking 5 wickets, while Harmer took 4 and Rabada picked 1.

South Africa needed 260 runs to win in the fourth innings. Markram got out early again. Rickelton and Dewald Brevis tried to fight back, but they couldn’t handle the spin attack. Noman Ali took 4 wickets, Sajid Khan 2, and Shaheen Afridi picked 4 wickets.

Pakistan bowled out South Africa for 183, sealing a 93-run victory in the first Test.
