OpenAI launched its newest AI-powered tool, ‘Deep Research,’ on 2 February 2025, changing the face of gathering and processing information for researchers, analysts, and businesses.

Open AI ‘Deep Research’ tool uses the latest NLP (Natural Language Processing) and machine learning algorithm for in-depth analysis of massive data collection, for writing a summary of key points, and structured research reports in minutes. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, detail, and context when assisting professionals working in academia, journalism, finance, or corporate strategy with ‘Deep Research’.

According to OpenAI, ‘Deep Reseach’ tool can scan and interpret thousands of sources, including research papers, news articles, and industry reports, providing users with comprehensive summaries and actionable insights. Unlike traditional search engines, ‘Deep Research’ not only retrieves information but also synthesizes it into coherent narratives, making complex topics easier to understand.

“Deep Research can do complex research tasks that might take a person anywhere from 30 minutes to 30 days,” Kevin Weil, OpenAI’s chief product officer, said at the event in Washington.

The goal of ‘Deep Research’ is to empower professionals with faster, more reliable access to in-depth knowledge, by reducing the time spent on manual research, enabling more innovation and informed decision-making across industries.”

Open AI ‘Deep Research’ tool is currently available to a limited group of users, but a larger rollout is expected in the coming months. Deep Research is poised to revolutionize knowledge acquisition and streamline professional workflows on a global scale as AI-driven research solutions continue to grow in popularity.
