On the National Panchayati Raj Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the nation from Madhubani, Bihar. PM Modi visited Madhubani to lay the foundation stone and inaugurated a number of projects worth thousands of crores, including electricity, infrastructure, roads, and rail connectivity in Bihar. He said that these projects will provide new job opportunities and speed up rural development.

He reiterated the strengthening of Panchayati Raj institutions through digital resources, and while mentioning that 2 lakh gram panchayats are connected to the internet, more than 30,000 new Panchayat Bhawans and ₹2 lakh crore have been made available for village development over the last ten years.

The PM appreciated Bihar for reserving 50% Panchayat seats for women, termed it an example of real social justice. He also extended support of ₹1,000 crore to women’s self-help groups, empowering women economically under the “Lakhpati Didi” mission.

Referring to rural requirements, he mentioned the enhancement of housing, sanitation, drinking water, electricity, and PM Awas Yojana, under which more than 4 crore houses have been constructed across the country, including 57 lakh in Bihar.

Referring to the Pahalgam terror attack, PM Modi deplored the act of violence and promised that terrorists and their sympathisers will be brought to justice. “India will track down every terrorist,” he declared, underscoring the country’s resolve against terror.

Finally, he said, “For a developed India, a developed Bihar is a must.”
