Hindu Nav Samvat and Chaitra Navratri 2019

According to Hindu lunar calendar, Chaitra is the first month of the year. On Saturday, April 06, 2019, the new year or vikram samvat 2076 is started.

On the same day, the nine divine days of goddess Bhagwati called Navratri also started. As these Navratri falls in the moth of chaitra, these are known as chaitra Navratri or Vasanti Navratra. This year chaitra Navratri follows from April 6 to April 14, 2019. The last day of the navratri is celebrated as Ramnavmi, the birth day of Lord Rama.

It is also known and celebrated as Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra.

These nine days are believed to be very auspicious, people keep fast and worship nine different forms of maa Durga. It is believed that who worship and keep fast on these nine days, maa Durga fulfills all her wishes.
