Delhi Capitals won their 1st match in this season of WPL by 7 wickets.

Delhi registered their first win of the season in the WPL. Yesterday, Match No. 7 was played between the Delhi Capitals and UP Warriors at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. Delhi won the toss and chose to bowl first.
In the 1st inning, Kiran Nangire and Meg Lanning opened for UP Warriors. Kiran Nangire lost her wicket at 0, and after her, Phoebe Litchfield and Meg Lanning made a partnership and contributed to UP in their total. Phoebe Litchfield scored 27 runs, and Meg Lanning played an important inning and scored 54 runs in 38 balls. Harleen Deol also played an important inning of 47 runs, but she went back as retired hurt. And after these wickets, UP’s batting line-up hasn’t played well and ended up scoring 154 runs for 8 wickets. For Delhi, Marizanne Kapp, Nandini Sharma, Sneh Rana, Nallapureddy Charani, and Shafali Verma shared the important wickets and stopped UP at the score of 154.
In the 2nd inning, Shafali Verma and Lizelle Lee opened for Delhi and played a fast and flashy inning for Delhi. Shafali scored 36 runs in 32 balls, and Lizelle scored 67 runs in 44 balls, smashing 8 fours and 3 sixes. After them, Jemimah Rodrigues, Laura Wolvaardt, and Marizanne Kapp finished the match, where Laura Wolvaardt scored the winning run by hitting a four. For UP warriors, Asha Sobhana and Deepti Sharma took the wicket by which Delhi Capitals won the match by 7 wickets.
Shafali Verma won the player of the match award because of her outstanding performance with bat and ball, where she scored 32 runs with the bat and 2 wickets with the ball and helped Delhi to win.
