Bhakshak is a forthcoming Indian crime thriller film slated for release on February 9, 2024, on Netflix. The trailer, released on 31 January 2024 is a crime thriller inspired by true events, particularly the Muzaffarpur shelter home case that shook India in 2018. The film revolves around Vaishali Singh, played by Bhumi Pednekar, an investigative journalist who uncovers horrifying truths about a shelter home for girls.

The trailer shows the story of Vaishali Singh, who alone bravely raises her voice against powerful men involved in the abuse of young girls. Vaishali Singh’s fight for the justice against the corrupt administration. In the battle against the antagonist Bansi Sahu played by Aditya Srivastava,  Bhaskar Sinha portrayed by Sanjay Mishra helped her.

In the end of the Bhakshak trailer, Bhumi’s character says,(“Dusron ke dard mein dukhi hona bhul gaye hai kya? Kya ab bhi aap apni ginti insaano mein karte hai ya apne aap ko Bhakshak maan chuke hai? [Have you forgotten to feel the pain of others? Do you still count yourself among humans, or have you considered yourself a predator?)

Bhakshak is inspired from the real-life Muzaffarpur shelter home case, where numerous girls were sexually abused by the shelter operators and powerful individuals. The case sparked national outrage and highlighted the vulnerabilities of marginalized children in India.
