AFCAT 1 2023 Exam Registration process begins, know eligibility, age group, and how to apply

 The Indian Air Force (IAF) conducts the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) every year. AFCAT 1 2023 Exam Registration process started today on 1st December 2022.  Interested and eligible candidates can register on the official website of IAF afcat.cdac.in. The last date for the AFCAT 1 2023 registration is 30 December 2022. The AFCAT exam will be conducted on 24, 25, and 26 February 2023.

AFCAT 1 2023: About AFCAT Exam

IAF conducts Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) twice in a year, in the form of AFCAT 1 and AFCAT 2. The AFCAT exam is an online exam. AFCAT 1 is conducted at the beginning of the year and the second paper is conducted in August. Candidates who are selected after clearing the AFCAT exam are given the Permanent Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC).

The AFCAT exam is conducted for 2 branches-

• FLYING BRANCH

• GROUND DUTY

Ground duty is also divided into two parts-

• Technical

• Non-Technical.

Students can apply for Short Service Commission in the Flying Branch, which is of 14 years duration with no further extension. Students of any stream can give the AFCAT exam.

AFCAT 1 2023: Eligibility

 Students who are graduated or are in the last year of their graduation year can give the AFCAT exam. 

Eligibility for the Flying branch

• Candidates must have completed Class 12 with 50 percent in Physics and Mathematics

• At least 60% marks the four-year graduation or integrated post-graduation degree in Engineering from a recognized university. 

• NCC students can also apply to the flying branches.

Eligibility for the Ground branch-

Technical-

Candidates must have completed Class 12 with 50 percent in Physics and Mathematics

• Candidates having an NCC certificate can apply to the flying branches.

• B. Tech students or engineering students can apply in the ground (technical) branch.

• Minimum 60% marks in a four-year graduation degree.

Non-Technical-

• 50 percent marks in physics and mathematics subjects in class 12.

• Graduation with any discipline from a recognized University.

• Minimum 60% marks in graduation.

AFCAT 1 2023: Age Group

For Flying Branch-

Candidate age should be 20 to 24 years as of 01 Jan 2024 i.e. Born between 02 Jan 2000 on 01 Jan 2004.

For Ground Duty-

The age of the candidate should be 20 to 26 years as on January 01, 2024.

AFCAT 1 2023: Steps to Apply 

1. Visit the official website afcat.cdac.in.

2. Click on Registration.

3. Registration AFCAT 01/2023– for flying, ground technical, and ground duty non-technical branches.

4. Add NCC special entry for the flying branch, if anyone has

5. Then register yourself.

6. Fill out the required information and complete the form.

7. Pay fees, if required.

8. Submit, download, and take a printout of the same for the future.
