UPSC Prelims 2020: Civil Services Preliminary Examination Postponed, Union Public Service Commission will update new date after lockdown

UPSC Prelims 2020: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has postponed the upcoming Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2020 to be held on 31 May till further notice. The notice regarding postponement of examination by the Commission was issued today on 04 May on its official website, upsc.gov.in.

According to the notice issued by the Commission related to the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2020, due to the situation after the second phase of the lockdown imposed across the country due to COVID-19 and the restrictions imposed for various examinations and different posts, the process cannot be started at the moment.

We all know the Union Public Service Commission selects candidates for various services and posts under the Central Government every year through the Civil Services Examination. As part of the selection process, the candidates have to appear in the preliminary examination in the first phase and then the final phase occurs for the candidates who cleared the first phase.

The Commission has postponed the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2020. Earlier, the Indian Forest Service examination on the basis of the Civil Services Preliminary Examination has also been postponed. UPSC will announce the new date for the examination only after the third phase of the lockdown. The Commission has stated in its notice that the dates may be announced on 20 May 2020 after a review of the situation. However, the announcement will be made by the Commission at least 30 days before the date of conducting the examination.
