										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="has-medium-font-size">Tokyo Olympics 2020: Indian shuttler P V Sindhu defeated He Bing Jiao of China by 21-13 and 21-15 and won the bronze medal in the women’s singles match in Tokyo Olympics today. With this win, PV Sindhu became the first Indian woman to win two Olympic medals as Sindhu won silver at Rio Olympics in 2016. </p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size"> President Shri Ram NathKovind, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Sports Minister Shri Anurag Thakur, and all countrymen congratulated PV Sindhu for her achievement.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">President Ram Nath Kovind Tweeted, “P V Sindhu becomes the first Indian woman to win medals in two Olympic games. She has set a new yardstick of consistency, dedication, and excellence. My heartiest congratulations to her for bringing glory to India.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="has-medium-font-size">Tokyo Olympics 2020: On July 31, at the Tokyo Olympics, a semi-final match was played between shuttler PV Sindhu and Tai Tzu-Ying of Chinese Taipei in women&#8217;s singles, in which Ying won by 21-18, 21-12. &nbsp;With this, Sindhu has been out of the gold race. Now Sindhu will play for bronze against China&#8217;s He Bing Jiao on August 1. On the same day, Ying will face Chen Yufei in the final match.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">On the other side, women discus thrower Kamalpreet Kaur entered the final at the Tokyo Olympics today. <p class="has-medium-font-size">In the <strong>ESPN Sports Awards</strong> Badminton world champion <strong>PV Sindhu</strong> scored a hat-trick. Sindhu became the <strong>Female Sportsperson of the Year</strong> for the third consecutive year. Also, her victory over Japan&#8217;s Nozomi Okuhara in the finals of the <strong>World Championship</strong> was chosen as the Moment of the Year. She left Rani Rampal and MC Mary Kom behind. </p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Young shooter Saurabh Chaudhary</strong>, who was the best emerging athlete last year, received two awards. He received the <strong>Male Sportsperson of the Year</strong> Award as well as the Team of the Year Award with Manu Bhaker. Saurabh defeated Bajrang Punia and Amit Panghal. The winners were chosen by a 16 member panel based on the 2019 performance of players. <strong>Saurabh won 5 gold medals in the World Cup last year</strong>. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Sprinter <strong>Duti Chand</strong> became the first winner to receive &#8216;<strong>The Courage Award</strong>&#8216;. He showed great courage on-field and off-field. Dutti won the battle with the World Athletics Body over gender-related rules and returned to the track. He also admitted to being in a gay relationship. Chess player Koneru Hampi returned and won the World Rapid title in December. He received the Comeback of the Year Award. In the race for the award, Hampi overtook hockey player Rupinderpal Singh and MMA fighter Ritu Phogat. At the same time, <strong>Silver Medalist wrestler Deepak Poonia</strong> Emerging Sportsperson was selected for the <strong>World Junior Championship</strong>. </p>
