The Indian team will also play the first two Test matches of the 4-Test series against England in Chennai. from February 13 to 17 and the IPL auction will occur the very next day in Chennai itself. The last date of registration for players to enter the auction is 4 February.

As per team management Nathan Coulter Nile has opted out of the tournament due to a back niggle. While the 35 years old Dale Steyn last played for Gujarat Lions in IPL 2016 & is making a comeback after 3 years. Also, in this year’s auctions he went unsold. Steyn has previously played for the same franchise from 2008-2010.

Further, Steyn will only be available form 16 April which means he will miss the next two important games against Punjab & Mumbai.

The 24 years old represents Perth Scorchers in Big Bash League. So, far Kolkata has 3 injured pacers including Nortje, other two players are Shivam Mavi & Kamlesh Nagarkoti. Mavi & Nagarkoti were replaced by KC Cariappa & Sandeep Warrier respectively. Also, Andre Russell has got a blow to his hand during batting against Chennai Super Kings.
