The theme of this year’s Doctors Day is “Lessen the mortality of COVID 19”. The objective of the theme is to raise awareness about asymptomatic hypoxia and early aggressive therapy. Why Doctor’s Day is Celebrated?

National Doctor’s Day is celebrated to pay tribute to the legendary physician and West Bengal’s second Chief Minister, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy whose birth and death anniversary concur on the same day i.e July 1. Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy was honored with India’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna. The central government established the national doctors’ day in 1991, to pay honor to Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy.

In different countries, Doctor’s Day is celebrated on different dates such as in the United States it is observed on 30 March, in Iran on 23 August, and in Cuba on 3rd December.

Origin of this day

So how did this crazy tradition begin? The true history behind this day is still a mystery, but there are many theories on how this day begins.

• It is believed that April Fools’ Day is celebrated to welcome the spring season. Many cultures historically hold celebrations around the beginning of April like in Romans, a festival called Hilaria held on every March 25 whereas the Hindus also celebrate a festival called Holi that comes in March.
• The adoption of a Gregorian calendar in 1582 led to another theory of April Fool’s day. In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII ordered the use of the Gregorian calendar. Many people refused to acknowledge the new calendar and they continued to celebrate New Year’s Day on April 1. Eventually, other people began to make fun of these “fools” by sending “fool’s errand” which means tricking things that don’t exist.

In 1961, the International Theater Institute began to celebrate world theater day. World meteorological day 2020 theme: Count every drop, Every drop counts

World Meteorological Organization announces a theme and slogan every year. This year’s slogan is “count every drop, every drop counts”. The theme for this year is climate and water in alignment with the theme of world water day 2020 that was on March 22. The theme count every drop explains that we can’t manage what we do not measure. Hydrological monitoring and forecasting data can be used in Effective flood and drought policy implementation. Without monitoring surface water, groundwater and reservoirs, improving water use efficiency cannot be calculated.

 Freshwater is important for life. On average, an individual cannot live without water for more than three days. Water is necessary for each and every living organism of this earth. Every year on March 21, the International forest day is celebrated.  A resolution passed on 28 November 2012 by the United Nations General Assembly to spread awareness on the importance of forests and the benefits of saving forests for future generations. At the 16^th session of the conference of the food and agriculture organization held in November 1971, the ”state members” voted to establish ‘world forestry day’.
