In February 2023, over 1 crore mobile numbers were linked with Aadhaar following requests from residents, according to an official statement from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).  This represents a 93% increase from the 56.7 lakh registrations in January 2023. The UIDAI has been encouraging residents to link their Aadhaar with mobile numbers for better communication while availing of welfare services and accessing voluntary services. An estimated 90 car Aadhaar holder has linked their mobile numbers with their unique IDs.

Mobile number updates require biometric authentication by the Aadhaar holder and can only be done at an authorized Aadhaar Kendra. The use of Aadhaar has been notified for almost 1700 social welfare and good governance programs at the Central and State levels. According to UIDAI, there were over 26.79 crores of electronic KYC transactions in February, bringing the total to 1,439.04 crores.

Govt Extended deadline for linking Pan Card and Aadhaar card to June 30.
