75th Republic Day of India Theme

The 75th Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path on January 26, 2024, will be women-centric with the themes of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat – Loktantra ki Matruka’. Women marching contingents will form the major chunk of the parade, with most of the tableaux of States/Union Territories (UTs) and Central Ministries/Organisations showcasing the country’s rich cultural diversity, unity and progress. The themes have been selected in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s views that ‘India is truly a mother of democracy’.

For the first time, the parade will be heralded by 100 women artists playing Indian musical instruments. The parade would commence with the music of Sankh, Naadswaram, Nagada, etc. to be played by women artists.

The parade will also witness an all-women Tri-Service contingent marching down Kartavya Path for the first time. The CAPF contingents will also consist of women personnel. 

75th Republic Day of India Chief Guest

French President Mr Emmanuel Macron will be the Chief Guest at this year’s Republic Day Parade. A 95-member marching contingent and a 33-member band contingent from France will also take part in the parade. Along with the aircraft of the Indian Air Force, one Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft and two Rafale aircraft of the French Air Force will participate in the Fly-past.

The History of The Indian Republic Day

On January 26, 1950, The constitution of India was formally adopted and that event is celebrated as Republic Day. On 15 August 1947, India got freedom from the British Government but the Indian Constitution came into effect on January 26, 1950. The day India got its constitution, that day is remarked as Republic Day. 

For drafting the constitution of India, The Constitution Assembly was assembled on 9 December 1946 and last met on 26 November 1949, which is also observed as Constitution Day. The Constituent Assembly of India was formed to design the Constitution for India.

Significance of Republic Day in India

After achieving Independence from British rule, The constitution drafting Committee Led by Dr. BR Ambedkar framed India’s constitution. 26th January was chosen as it was on that day in 1930 when the Declaration of Indian Independence was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress.

How is Republic Day celebrated in India? 

Republic Day is celebrated all over India with joy. The Honourable President of India hoists the National Flag of India (Tricolour) at the India Gate. The Parade takes place at Rajpath, New Delhi. The ceremonious parades take place at the Kartvya path, promoting India’s Diverse Culture and unity in diversity. 

The event also remembers the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the country. The Prime Minister honours the martyrs by putting a ringlet at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate followed by a 21-gun Salute, Nation Flag Hoisting following the National Anthem. 

Paramvir Chakra, Ashok Chakra and Vir Chakra awards were presented to the brave soldiers. Even children and civilians who have shown courage in times of adversity are also honoured with bravery awards.

Billionaire Elon Musk revealed and received praise for the successful launch of Starlink’s Direct-To-Cell satellite. Falcon 9 launched 21 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.. The new satellite is expected to streamline internet connectivity for all its users.

What is Starlink’s Direct-To-Cell service?

Starlink Direct-To-Cell Service will begin operating in the coming days. The implementation of the text function will be active in 2024, while the activation of the voice, data, and IOT services will occur in 2025.

By functioning as a mobile phone tower in orbit, Direct to Cell technology will be compatible with LTE phones. This means that if you have an active satellite signal, service will be available everywhere. For the same, no hardware or external connections are needed.

The enhanced Starlink satellites have an advanced modem that acts as a cellphone tower in space, eliminating dead zones with network integration similar to a standard roaming partner., as stated on SpaceX’s official website.

Global cellular providers using Direct to Cell to gain reciprocal access in all partner nations include T-Mobile in the U.S., Rogers in Canada, KDDI in Japan, Optus in Australia, One NZ in New Zealand, Salt in Switzerland, and Entel in Chile and Peru.

This will allow for mobile phone connectivity anywhere on Earth. Note, that this only supports ~7Mb per beam and the beams are very big, so while this is a great solution for locations with no cellular connectivity, it is not meaningfully competitive with existing terrestrial cellular networks, said Elon Musk on his X account.

In its C58 mission, ISRO’s dependable Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) launched the primary X-Ray Polarimeter satellite, or XPoSat, into a planned Low Earth Orbit of 650 km.  The launch held from the Sriharikota launch pad at the appointed time of 9:10 AM. 

As the 25-hour countdown concluded, the 44.4-meter-tall rocket blasted off gracefully to a tremendous ovation. 

Polarimeter is the first specialized scientific satellite from ISRO to conduct studies on space-based polarization measurements of X-ray emission from celestial sources, according to the space agency. When analyzing the radiation process and geometry of astronomical sources, X-ray polarization is an essential diagnostic tool.

POLIX (Polarimeter Instrument in X-Rays), developed by the Raman Research Institute to determine polarimetry parameters, and XSPECT (X-ray Spectroscopy and Timing), constructed by the U R Rao Satellite Centre, Bengaluru, are the main payloads of XPoSat. POLIX is expected to observer about 40 bright astronomical sources of different categories during the planned lifetime of the XPoSat mission of about 5 years. 

NISAR, a cutting-edge joint venture satellite between ISRO and NASA, will also be launched in the first quarter of 2024. NISAR (NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar), which was built for over Rs. 12,500 crores (about $1.5 billion), is intended to be launched onboard India’s GSLV rocket. Studying terrestrial ecosystems, solid earth deformation, sea ice, mountain and polar cryosphere, and coastal waters on a regional to global scale will be made much easier with the use of NISAR data.

3. Candidates should have completed a 2-year Vocation with a Non-Vocational Course subject Physics and Math from any recognized Board with 50% Marks Aggregate and 50% Marks in English.
