England faced New Zealand on Monday, October 20. England will play a 3-match T20 and 3-match ODI series in New Zealand.

New Zealand won the toss and opted to bowl first. Philip Salt and Jos Buttler opened for England. England’s start was aggressive, but Jacob Duffy took the wicket of Jos Buttler after conceding three boundaries. Jacob Bethell, after hitting back-to-back sixes to Michael Bracewell, got out on the last ball of the power play.

Harry Brook and Philip Salt smashed the New Zealand bowlers; both batters scored fifties. Brook got out after scoring 78 runs off just 35 balls, and in the same over, Philip Salt also got out for 85 runs in 56 balls. Jamieson took 2 wickets in the 18th over. Tom Banton scored quick runs at the end of the innings — 29 runs in just 12 balls.

New Zealand’s start was not good; they lost 2 wickets to Brydon Carse in the second over. Tim Seifert and Mark Chapman showed some intent, but in the 10th over, Chapman got out to Liam Dawson. In the next over, Tim Seifert got out to Adil Rashid, and in the following over, Liam dismissed Michael Bracewell. Adil struck again in the very next over, removing Daryl Mitchell. Back-to-back wickets put down the home side.

Mitchell Santner and James Neesham gave some last hope to the chase, but Adil Rashid took both of them in the 17th over, and in the 18th, Luke Wood took 2 wickets to end the New Zealand innings.
