Kerala is widely known for the palm-lined beaches, a network of canals, and backwaters. Tea, spice, and coffee plantations are widely seen here. Kerala has two major political alliances which are known to be UDF, that is, ‘United Democratic Front’ and LDF, that is, ‘Left Democratic Front’ which is led by the Communist Party of India who is also known as Marxists or CPI(M). The ruling coalition currently is LDF, which is ‘Left Democratic Front’ by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who is of the Communist Party of India. The Leader of Opposition is Ramesh Chennithala who is from the UDF.

V. K. KRISHNA MENON

V. K. Krishna Menon was considered to be the second most powerful man of India who was also featured in Time’s Magazine. During his ruling reign, he has incorporated a number of great actions and measures. He was more like a born leader. He was an excellent orator. And therefore, earned the title “Defender of Kashmir” for the striking speech in the UN. He had also actively participated in the freedom movements and paved a road for a strong leader.

E.M.S. NAMBOODIRIPAD

E.M.S Namboodiripad was popularly known as EMS and he was the first Chief Minister of Kerala. He was a Communist leader. The leader in him was empowered because of the bullet actions during the reign of the British and also due to several social renaissances acts that he committed.

MOHAMMED ABDUR RAHIMAN

Mohammed Abdur Rahiman was popularly known as Abdur Rahiman Sahib. According to his political ideologies, he favors the Congress Party and hence was a Congress leader. His theories faced strong opposition within the party, that is, ‘Muslim League’ which was against the division of India.

K. KARUNAKARAN

K. Karunakaran was elected 4 consecutive times as the Chief Minister of Kerala. He was a Congress leader. He was considered to be the “King” of the political party Congress in Kerala. His successful political career took a boost inside the party because of the deep connections with the Nehru family.

E.K. NAYANAR

When someone speaks of E.K Nayanar, his smiling cheerful image of his face comes running to one’s mind. The unique sense of humor and energy he possessed was always talked about in his political career. He was a leader of the Communist Party and had taken remarkable actions and measures during his phase as a Chief Minister of Kerala.

V. S. ACHUTHANANDAN

He was one of the tremendously born leaders of the Communist Party. He was the leader of CPI(M) for years. He is one of the strongest leaders of all and is known throughout India. For any given Communist idealists in Kerala, V. S. Achuthanandan will be the first leader that comes running to their minds.

A. K. ANTHONY

Another great political leader from Kerala is A. K. Anthony. He was the Defense Minister during the reign of Manmohan Singh. His impressive actions have always gained attention of the whole India towards him. He was also the Chief Minister of Kerala twice.

K. R. GOWRI AMMA

K. R. Gowri Amma is considered to be the only strongest woman leader in the politics of Kerala. She was part of the Communist Party since her early years and due to some problems that rose inside the Party, she was forced to join the Congress Party. Even in her late 90’s, K. R. Gowri Amma continues to be an active politician of Kerala.

PINARAYI VIJAYAN

Pinarayi Vijayan is the current Chief Minister of Kerala. He is a Politburo member of the Communist Party of India. Pinarayi Vijayan was also one of the longest-serving, that is, from 1998 to 2015 as the Secretary of the Kerala State Committee.

Kerala is considered to be one of the active political States of India because of the citizens of the State who are also vigorously involved in every political issue of the State.
