Marco Jensen delivered a 9-ball over. Wihan Lubbe scored 21 runs in 19 balls. Every batter played a slow innings. Sherane Rutherford played a quick innings in the end. Sherfane scored 47 runs in 22 balls.  Pretoria Capitals scored 176 runs. Adam Milne took 2 wickets. Nortje took 3 wickets. Sipamla and Senuran each took 1-1 wickets. 

Sunrise Hyderabad owns the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, and they just played like them. De Kock and Bairstow opened for the SEC. They dominate from ball 1. De Kock hit 3 back-to-back boundaries on the first 3 balls. Both the Batters played sensibly in the start and then started dominating the bowlers.

Bairstow shows a powerful performance in the 12th over. Bairstow hit 5 sixes and a four to Maharaj, who is an experienced bowler. The hitting Maharaj like this is another level of dominance. Both batters finished the game in the 15th over. It boosts their NRR. De Kock scored 79 runs, and Bairstow scored 85 runs. Maharaj gave 50 runs in just 3 overs.

Nathan McSweeney scored 11 and got out to Ben Dwarshuis. Brisbane suddenly started collapsing and struggling. Ben Dwarshuis took 2 wickets in the 8th over—Brisbane Heat 50 for 5. Joel Davies did the same in the 13th over. He took 2 wickets. Hugh Weibgen somehow scored runs but got run out on a no-ball. Brisbane Heat scored 114 runs.

Sydney Sixers, chasing 115 runs, have struggled. Babar Azam’s flop show continues. Ollie Patterson took Babar Azam’s wicket and Josh Philippe’s on the next ball. Xavier Bartlett took the 3rd wicket. Matthew Kuhnemann took 2-in-2. Jack Wildermuth took Moises Henriques’s wicket in the next over, and suddenly this match turned into low scoring thriller. Sydney Sixers 57 for 7. Jack Davies and Hayden Kerr took the match away from Brisbane. They both batted well and chased the target with 8 balls remaining. Sydney Sixers won by 3 wickets.

Hamza Zahoor and Sameer Minhas opened for Pakistan. Hamza Zahoor’s catch dropped in the second over. Hamza Zahoor looked dangerous, but Henil Patel took his wicket in the 4th over. Pakistan was scoring quick runs. Usman Khan got out in the 17th over. Usman Khan scored 35 runs.

Ahmed Hussain scored 56 runs, and the captain, Farhan Yousaf, scored 19 runs. Sameer Minhas single-handedly took the match from India. Sameer Minhas scored 172 runs in 113 balls. Henil Patel and Khilan Patel both bowled with a good economy rate. Pakistan posted a total of 347 runs.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre opened for India. Vaibhav gave an aggressive start. Viabhav need to play according to the situation; singles and doubles are always important in ODI cricket. Viabhav scored 26 runs, and Ayush Mhatre scored only 2 runs. No one stood up for India. Deepesh Devendran scored 36 runs in the end. India got all out on 156 runs in 26.2 overs. Ali Raza took 4 wickets. Mohammad Sayyam, Abdul Subhan, and Huzaifa Ahsan each took 2-2 wickets. Pakistan U19 won by 191 runs.

Reeza Hendricks and De Kock opened for South Africa. Arshdeep bowled the first over for India. Arshdeep bowled the 2 outswingers and 1 inswinger to take Reeza Hendricks’ wicket. Arshdeep shows his class and control with the ball. De Kock got LBW on Harshit Rana’s ball. 

Dewald Brevis struck the inside edge and bowled on Harshit Rana’s ball. Hardik Pandya completes 100 T20I wickets with Stubbs’ wicket. Shivam Dube bowled Corbin Bosch on his first ball. Varun Chakaravarthy shows why he is the number 1 T20I bowler. Donovan Ferreira had no clue about the delivery. The same happened with Marco Jensen as well. 

Markram was the only batter who scored runs. But Arshdeep took his wicket in the 19th over. Coach Gambhir sent a message to the captain to give the final over to bday boy, Kuldeep Yadav, and he took 2 wickets in the final over. South Africa scored 117 runs.

Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill opened for India. Abhishek started with a six on the first ball. Abhishek scored a quick 35 runs. Shubman Gill struggled a lot. Gill scored 28 runs on 28 balls. Same with Surya Kumar Yadav, he scored 12 runs in 11 balls. Tilak Varma scored 25 runs in 34 balls. 

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first. Stirling and Tim Tector gave a good start. Stirling scored 21 runs, and Tim scored 32 runs: Harry Tector, a promising Irish player. Once, Hardik Pandya also praised him. He scored 69 runs not out. Lorcan Tucker and Curtis Campher finished the innings with a positive intent; Dockrell also contributed in the end.

Ireland posted a total of 181 runs. It was a good total on that deck. Shoriful Islam and Rishad Hossain each picked up 1 wicket. Tanzim Hasan Sakib got 2 wickets.

Bangladesh’s start was a bit terrible. It looked like a football score. The top four got out on a single-digit score. Towhid was the only hero from the Bangladesh side; he scored 83 not out. Jaker Ali scored 20 runs. No other batsman performs. Matthew Humphreys picked up 4 wickets. Barry McCarthy picked up 3 wickets, and Mark Adair 2 wickets. Ireland won by 39 runs.

South Africa Women faced Sri Lanka Women in the ICC Women’s World Cup at Colombo on Friday, October 17.

Another day, another match ruined by rain. It’s like a ritual in ICC events that some matches are affected by rain. 

Sri Lanka Women won the toss and opted to bat first. Sri Lanka started slow. But in the 7th over, Masabata Klaas bowled out Hasini Perera, and in the 10th over, Masabata took down the Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu.

After 12 overs, rain started, and the match was reduced to a 20-over game. A team that was playing for 50 overs suddenly gets to know that they have only 8 overs left. DLS score is not always accurate because if a player plays aggressively from the start, how can this be justified in the DLS method?

Vishmi Gunaratne, who got hurt in the first half, came back to the crease in the 15th over after Harshita’s wicket and scored 34 runs off 33 balls. Nonkululeko Mlaba took 3 wickets in the last over, Masabata Klaas picked 2 wickets and Nadine de Klerk picked 1 wicket.

The DLS target for South Africa was 121, and it was an easy target because of the rain. The outfield was wet, making it difficult to field and catch, especially for the spinners.

South Africa’s batting approach made it too easy. Laura Wolvaardt scored 60 runs off 47 balls and her opening partner Tazmin Brits scored 55 runs off 42 balls. It was an easy win for South Africa.

Player of the Match – Alana King

Bangladesh faced Australia at Visakhapatnam on Thursday, October 16. Bangladesh’s motive was to give a tough fight to Australia, but they ended up on the losing side.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. Bangladesh showed some struggle at the start, but Megan Schutt ended the 9th over by taking Fargana Hoque’s wicket. Rubya Haider scored 44 runs and Sobhana Mostary remained not out on 66 runs. No other batter impressed with their batting.

Ashleigh, Annabel, Alana, and Georgia Wareham shared 2 wickets each. Megan Schutt picked up 1 wicket. Bangladesh ended their innings on 198, which wasn’t a good score against the Australian side.

Alyssa Healy, the Australian captain, did her job brilliantly. She scored her second century of this ICC Women’s World Cup, and her opening partner scored 84 not out.

Australia Women won by 10 wickets – a completely dominating victory over Bangladesh.

PAKW – 34-0 (6.4)

Pakistan Women faced England Women in the ICC Women’s World Cup at Colombo on 15 October.

Pakistan Women won the toss and opted to bowl first. Diana Baig picked the wicket of Tammy Beaumont in the second over. Both openers were sent to the dugout within the first three overs. Fatima Sana bowled out Amy Jones in the third over. Fatima Sana struck again, this time she bowled the English captain Nat Sciver-Brunt. In that same over, Fatima also dismissed the previous captain, Heather Knight.

Charlie Dean and Em Arlott added some runs towards the end. Overs were reduced to 31 due to rain at regular intervals. But 133 runs in 31 overs is not a good total for sure.

The revised DLS target for Pakistan was 113, which was less than 4 runs per over. Pakistan started very well — a comfortable start, knowing they could chase easily if they didn’t lose wickets. They were doing well, but rain interrupted them again.

Pakistan was so near yet so far. They knew they could create history, but the match was called off and the points were split between both teams.
