Tata Motors’ subsidiary Tata Passenger Electric Mobility today launched the Tata Punch.EV in India at a starting price of Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The top variant of the electric SUV is available at Rs 14.49 lakh (ex-showroom). While test rides for the Tata Punch.EV has commenced, and customer deliveries will start on January 22. Tata Punch EV is the first car to be constructed on the company’s new Gen 2 architecture called Acti.EV (pronounced ‘active’). The platform will also serve a range of new Tata EVs and SUVs, including the upcoming Curvv EV, the new Sierra EV, and the Harrier EV.
Tata Punch EV has two battery options and comes in five variants: Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+. Long-range models get the option of a 7.2kW AC fast charger for a premium of Rs 50,000, while the Adventure, Empowered and Empowered+ variants on both models can add sunroof for an additional Rs 50,000.
Design and Platform Tata Punch EV
The Tata Punch EV is the first electric car from Tata with a frunk or front trunk. It also receives a new alloy wheel design, a split headlamp setup, and an LED light bar.
Battery, Range, Powertrain, and Charging Tata Punch EV
Tata Punch EV gives two battery options: a 25kWh battery with an estimated MIDC range of 315 km and a 35kWh battery with an estimated MIDC range of 421 km. A 3.3kW wall box charger and a 7.2kW fast charger for charging respectively. Additionally, the Punch EV is capable of DC fast charging, which uses a 50kW fast charger to charge it from 10% to 80% in 56 minutes.
The Long Range variants can go for 0-100kph in under 9.5 seconds and the standard models take 13.5 seconds. The EV has a water-wading capacity of 350mm and a ground clearance of 190mm.

Safety features include six airbags, ABS, ESC, and ISOFIX mounts.
