<p class="has-medium-font-size">He also addressed the issue by saying that India’s leadership is involved in promoting traditional medicine as a science-based approach, and people should take this seriously. He also called it a fast global action that is taking place, which will help balance the health and well-being of people. PM Narendra Modi also mentioned that research is <span style="margin: 0px;padding: 0px">being strengthened in this area; the use of <strong>digital technology</strong> in the field of traditional medicine is also gaining momentum, and traditional methods like <strong>Yoga</strong> and <strong>Ayurveda</strong> should play a major part in</span> this. He appreciated every individual who had contributed significantly to the promotion and development of yoga. </p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">He also mentioned that the launch of <strong>the Traditional Medicine Global Library</strong> as a global platform will preserve scientific data and policy documents related to traditional medicine in one place, and it will be an easy source of information for all over the world equally. <p>The benefits of Yoga have been scientifically proven. Yoga has been practiced in the culture of India since time innumerable. It consists of Asanas and Pranayam. Asanas are slow stretching exercises which require physical movement of the body. While Pranayam is rhythmic control of the breath which has immense mental health benefits.</p>

<p>It is the traditional medical practice of India, that has been used by the Indians since ages. Its foundation period ranges back to the Vedic times. It has been used and subsequently developed through generations. This makes it better than other forms of medicine. Most of the substances used in Ayurveda are organic and eco-friendly. In addition to being beneficial for the human body, it does no harm to the environment unlike other forms of medicines which use substantial amounts of chemicals.&nbsp;</p>

<p>International Yoga Day is being celebrated on June 21. On this day everyone talks about the benefits associated with yoga and shares photos while doing yoga. <strong>This year&#8217;s Yoga Day theme is Climate Action.</strong> Let it be said, June 21 is the biggest day of the year and on this day World Music Day is also celebrated.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How did the Yoga Day start?</h2>



<p>In many countries around the world, people do yoga to stay healthy. But the start of the International Yoga Day started with the initiative of India. On September 27, 2014; Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon the United Nations General Assembly to celebrate Yoga Day around the world. The United Nations General Assembly had announced its event within just three months after the proposal arrived. The General Assembly announced on 11 December 2014 that 21st day of June will be celebrated as Yoga Day in the world. After which people from all over the world celebrate 21 June every year as International Yoga Day.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why is Yoga Day celebrated on June 21?</h2>



<p>There is also a special reason for opting for the International Yoga Day on June 21. Actually, this day is the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere, which can also be called Summer Solstice. From the perspective of Indian culture, after the summer solstice, the sun turns southward and this time is very beneficial in achieving spiritual accomplishments. That is why the 21st day of June was set to celebrate International Yoga Day.</p>

<p>Different yogic concepts like Discipline, awareness, concentration, meditation were taught. Trainer Vishal Jindal said that Yogic kriyas are very important for the detoxification of our body. To maintain a healthy body, physical exercises must be done on a regular basis. He also informed that the foundation is organizing a free <strong>International Yoga Month from 1</strong><sup><strong>st</strong></sup><strong> to 30</strong><sup><strong>th</strong></sup><strong> June 2019</strong> where asanas, meditation, breathing exercise, fun activities, and many more things will be taught. </p>
