Despite starting strongly, India’s women’s batting squad struggled against Australia’s attack. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana got the team off to a flying start, scoring 31 runs in the first four overs. However, Australia responded quickly, dismissing both Shafali (8) and Mandhana (16) in the sixth over, reducing India to 38/2.

After that, Yastika and Mithali got up at the crease and put on 77 runs for the third wicket, but India lost Bhatia (35) to Brown in the 26th over, just when they were gaining the upper hand.
