The National Research Centre on Yak is mainly established to conserve and work on the improvement of yaks. This center aims to make effective technologies for the upliftment of Yak husbandry.  This college is affiliated with Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya and is approved by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR). It offers only one degree that is a Ph.D. in Agriculture which is a 3-year on-campus course for which the student has to give a joint entrance examination conducted by ICAR.
