In an ongoing pandemic situation, the worst affected sector is the tourism sector as people are avoiding national and international trips to heritage and cultural sites. That’s why World Tourism Day 2020 holds great importance as it will bring new hope to this sector.

The 2020 World Tourism Day will celebrate the unique role that tourism plays in providing opportunities outside of big cities and preserving cultural and natural heritage all around the world.

The theme for World Heritage Day 2020 is “Tourism and Rural Development”.  Tourism and Rural development are inter-related as all around the world, tourism empowers rural communities, providing jobs and opportunities, most notably for women and youth. As in these hard times, millions of tourism jobs have gone at risk.

The tourism sector contributes to the complete growth and economic development of a country by bringing various values and benefits and also helps to create a country’s brand value, image, and reputation. The tourism industry is not only about natural and cultural heritage sites, but it’s a major contributor to the economic development of a country.

World Social Justice 2020 Theme

The theme for world social justice day 2020 is “Closing the Inequalities Gap to Achieve Social Justice”. It explains social justice is an underlying principle for peaceful and prosperous coincide within and among nations. We confirm the principles of social justice when we promote gender equality or the rights of indigenous peoples and migrants.

We advance social justice when we remove hurdles that people face because of gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or disability.

How did this day come about?

In 1995 the world Summit for social development was held in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Summit was the largest ever of world leaders at that time. More than 100 political leaders in the summit vow to fight poverty, promote full employment and to provide safe and stable societies. They also concur on the need to put people in the center of development plans.

Later, the UN General Assembly proclaimed 20 February as World Day of Social Justice in 2007. It invited state members to contribute to promoting national activities following the goals and objectives World Summit for Social Development and the 24th session of the General Assembly.

How it is Celebrated

 The objective of Social Justice is to raise voice against social injustice that is to promote social justice and to bring the various communities internationally together to eliminate poverty and gender physical discrimination illiteracy and religious inequality to make a socially integrated society. Educational Institutes may prepare for themes related to poverty, social and economic exclusion or unemployment. Different media, including television and radio stations, Internet sites and newspaper sand may give attention to the issues around the World Day of Social Justice.
