The Scrambler 400 X shares its engine with the Speed 400. This liquid-cooled powerplant has a displacement of 398.15 cc and produces 39.5 horsepower and 37.5 Nm of peak torque. It is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.

When it comes to suspension, the Scrambler 400 X has a 320 mm front disc and a 230 mm rear disc brake. The Scrambler 400 X, in particular, will include switchable ABS.

In terms of wheel size, the Scrambler 400 X has a 19-inch alloy wheel on the front and a 17-inch unit on the rear.

The Scrambler 400 X will also have dual-purpose tyres in addition to these capabilities. Furthermore, there are several design differences between the two variants. The Scrambler 400 X, in particular, has a headlight grille, radiator guard, split seat layout, sump guard, handguards, handlebar brace, and a longer front mudguard.
