The city of Amritsar was founded in the 16th century by the fourth Sikh Guru, Guru Ramdas Ji. The city was named after Amrit Sarovar, a sacred tank here. In 1601, Guru Ramdas Ji’s successor Guru Arjun Dev Ji developed Amritsar. Amritsar has been witness to many tragedies and traumatic events. The biggest massacre of the Indian freedom struggle took place in Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar.

Amritsar has been in existence for almost four and a half hundred years. Guru Ramdas laid the foundation of the Gurudwara in 1577 in the middle of a lake. It has a copper dome which was later overlaid with gold plates and was named Harmandir Sahab or Golden Temple. In the kitchen of the Golden Temple, every day 40 thousand people are fed for free.

Touirst who visit Golden Temple must visit the living example of the freedom struggle, which is a witness to the martyrdom of nearly 2000 Sikhs and Hindus. It is the Jallianwala Bagh where thousands of unarmed innocents were killed by British Brigadier General Dyer on 13 April 1919, on the occasion of Baisakhi. This incidence not only shows the brutality of British colonial rule but also changed the course of India’s history. There are still bullets left on the walls of this garden. It is here that a memorial has been built in memory of the martyrs, where a flame always lighted.

Wagah Border, a must visit the place on Amritsar tour. The border of Punjab which separates India and Pakistan. The beating retreat ceremony takes place on the Wagah border daily before sunset. The soldiers of India and Pakistan are involved in this ceremony. People from all over the country come to see the parade on the Wagah border.
This place Gokarna is situated in a region of rivers that looks like a cow’s ear, and perhaps the name of this place is named Gokarna. Mahabaleshwar Shiva Temple located in Gokarna is the most important pilgrimage center which is a major center of attraction for all tourists visiting here. The beach of Gokarna is very popular especially among the youth, tourists come to have fun.

Gokarna Beach

Gokarna Beach, based on the name of Gokarna, is the main beach of the city, which attracts a large number of tourists from India and abroad. Not only tourists come to visit this beach, but also pilgrims who visit the Mahabaleshwar temple come. It is believed that only after taking a dip in this beach you can enter the temple to worship Lord Shiva.

Om beach

This beach is quite special because ‘Om‘ is associated which is the most sacred letter of its Hindu religion. This beach is named Om Beach because its shape is like ‘Om’. The climate of this beach is quite calm which is very much liked by the tourists. Apart from this, the place is also suitable for an adventure such as swimming.

Half- Moon beach

About 20 minutes away from Om Beach, Half Moon Beach is a beautiful and serene beach which serves to attract tourists to a large extent. The coast is half-moon shaped and hence it is named Half Moon.

Paradise Beach

Paradise Beach, situated towards the south direction from Half Moon Beach, is another beautiful beach of Gokarna where you can plan a trip. It is a pollution-free coast where one can feel the fresh air. Since it is a rocky beach, it can be difficult for you to swim.

Vaishno Devi is a religious trekking destination where pilgrims walk about 13 km uphill to reach the little cave. Ponies and palanquins, as well as helicopter services, are also available to take you there at the top. There are several points between the main temple from Katra which include Banganga, Charpaduka, Indraprastha, Ardhakuwari, Garbhajoon, Himkoti, and Bhairo Temple but the mid-point of the journey is Ardhkunvari. The Vaishno Devi yatra is considered incomplete without visiting Bhairavnath Mandir.
