The most famous place that a traveler can see in Mysore is The Mysore palace. Known for its rich cultural and architectural history, the place is the residence of rulers of Mysore. Mysore is called a city of Palaces, and out of seven palaces, this one is the most grandeur and famous one. The palace is surrounded by a large garden. Its light and sound show at the time of Dussehra is renowned over the world.

Situated across the river Cauvery, another prominent attraction called Brindavan Garden is located. The lush green garden spreads over an area of acres is a beautiful place to visit. The dancing fountain in the garden, a variety of plants and flowers gives a mesmerizing feeling to the tourist.

On the Chamundi hills, a famous Hindu temple and among 18 shakti peethas, The Chamundeshwari temple is located. Dedicated to and named after the goddess Durga, the temple also has statues of Nandi and Mahishasura, the demon. Here for animal lovers, Mysore Zoo is the perfect place. Established in the year 1892 for the Royals, it is the oldest zoological park of India.  The zoo is a house of elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, tigers, white rhinoceros and many more.

St. Philomenas Church is a gothic style, the beautiful cathedral is one of the largest churches in the country is in Mysore. Mysore has a number of museums like the National Museum of Natural History, folk art museum, Rail museum (second after Delhi), and melody world (wax museum).

Other attractions that allures tourists from all over the world are Mysore Dussehra, Mysore Pak, Mysore Dosa, and Mysore silk sarees. Mysore Dussehra is quite famous as it’s a 10day festival celebrated with huge pomp and splendour here. It was the day in the Hindu legends when Goddess Chamundeshwari (Durga) killed the demon Mahishasura. The main attraction of the ten-day Mysore Dasara festival is the Mysore Palace which is illuminated by thousands of bulbs, and various dance and musical fests are held there.

Lord Brahma who is considered as the creator of the universe, his only world-famous temple is in Pushkar. Thousands of devotees every year flock to the temple for prayers. Hindus consider a journey to Pushkar to be the ultimate pilgrimage that must be undertaken to attain salvation. There is only one Brahma Temple and that too is in Pushkar is the outcome of Savitri’s curse to Brahma for marrying another Goddess, Gayatri, while starting his yagna in Pushkar.

Pushkar lake is a major tourist attraction which is believed to be generated when Lord Brahma dropped a lotus to the ground. That’s why the place is having the name Pushkar after the lotus.  It is believed that bathing in the waters of the lake on Kartik Poornima (during the Pushkar Fair) will remove the sins and cure skin diseases. All 52 bathing ghats that surround Pushkar lake attracts pilgrims from all over the world.

There is a temple right behind the Brahma temple dedicated to Savitri, the wife of Lord Brahma. The other temples that are worth seeing are Rangji Temple, Varaha temple, Gurudwara, Atmateshwar temple, Pap Mochini temple, and etc.

Pushkar is known as the Rose garden of Rajasthan as it has a huge variety of roses that are exported to other countries too.

Pushkar is also famous for the camel fair or Kartik mela that is held from Karthik Ekadashi to Karthik Purnima as per the Hindu calendar. A wide range of activities and events held in the fair that represent the culture of Rajasthan. Camel trading, camel race, camel safaris, cow and horse beauty contests, camel parades, camping, hot air balloons, etc are the main highlights of the fair.

The best time to visit the Pushkar is during the late October to November as a traveler can also enjoy the Kartik Mela or Camel fair. Summers are extremely hot, not suitable for traveling. But if one wants to have a pure glimpse of Rajasthan with cuisines, culture, dresses, folk dance, etc, they must visit the Pushkar during the colorful and vibrant camel fair.

The island of Lakshadweep, which is situated about four hundred kilometres away from Kochi, is a beautiful tourist destination for honeymooners. A permit is required to visit the Lakshadweep islands for all including Indians. Lakshadweep is the only place in the country where tourists can visit the colourful world of Lagoons along with seeing the beauty of the earth. Minicoy Beach is an expanse of the Arabian Sea, mainly a white sand beach and beautiful reefs. It is the second-largest Island among all and a perfect place for rejuvenating yourself in the beauty of nature.

Kalpeni Island is the most picturesque Island grouping three islands in it. Famous for water sports like Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, Reef walking, canoeing, and kayaking.

Agatti Island: The only Island having an airport that makes the island extremely accessible from major parts of the world.

The union territory can be reached via Airways and Waterways only. Lakshadweep has its airport at Aggati Island. Kochi is the other nearest Airport. One can reach Lakshadweep through ships which operate through Kochi and Lakshadweep.

The best time to visit the Lakshadweep is winters (November-Feb) and summers (March-May).
