In a release, the BCCI said: “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces the extension of contracts for Head Coach Mr. Rahul Dravid and the Support Staff of Team India (Senior Men). The BCCI engaged in productive discussions with Mr. Rahul Dravid after the term of his contract ended following the recently concluded ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and unanimously agreed to further the tenure.

The Board acknowledges Mr. Dravid’s instrumental role in moulding the Indian Team and commends his exceptional professionalism. The Board also appreciates Mr. VVS Laxman for his exemplary roles as Head of NCA and as the stand-in Head Coach. Similar to their legendary on-field partnerships, Mr. Dravid and Mr. Laxman have worked closely in driving Indian Cricket forward.

Mr. Roger Binny, President, BCCI, said: “Mr. Rahul Dravid’s vision, professionalism, and unyielding efforts have been important pillars in Team India’s success. As Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team, you are always under immense scrutiny and I extend appreciation to him not only for embracing the challenges but for thriving in them. The performances of the Indian Team are a testament to his strategic guidance. I am delighted that he accepted the offer to remain the Head Coach, and it speaks of the mutual respect and shared vision between him and the BCCI. I have no doubt that under him, the team will continue its march to the pinnacle of success and set new benchmarks along the way.”

Mr. Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary, BCCI, said: “I had mentioned that there is no better person than Rahul Dravid to take over the role of Head Coach at the time of his appointment, and Mr. Dravid has proven himself again with his unparalleled commitment to excellence. Team India is now a formidable unit across formats, and our top ranking in all three formats directly reflects his vision, guidance, and the roadmap he charted for the team. Having won 10 consecutive games before the final, our World Cup campaign was nothing short of extraordinary, and the Head Coach deserves appreciation for setting up the right platform for the team to flourish. The Head Coach has our full backing, and we will provide him with all the support needed for sustained success at the international level.”

On Tenure Renewal, Mr. Rahul Dravid, Head Coach, Team India, said: “The last two years with Team India have been thoroughly memorable. Together, we have witnessed the highs and lows, and throughout this journey, the support and camaraderie within the group have been phenomenal. I am genuinely proud of the culture we have set in the dressing room. It’s a culture that stands resilient, whether in moments of triumph or adversity. The skills and talent that our team possesses are phenomenal, and what we’ve stressed is following the right process and sticking to our preparations, which has had a direct impact on the overall result.

“I thank the BCCI and the Office Bearers for placing their trust in me, endorsing my vision, and providing support during this period. The demands of this role necessitate considerable time away from home, and I deeply appreciate my family’s sacrifices and support. Their instrumental role behind the scenes has been invaluable. As we embrace new challenges post the World Cup, we remain committed to the pursuit of excellence.”
The post BCCI announces extension of contracts for Head Coach Rahul Dravid and Support Staff first appeared on Jugaadin News .

On Wednesday, the BCCI removed Virat Kohli from the post of India’s ODI team captaincy post and handed over the reins to Rohit Sharma. Kohli had already left the T20 captaincy. The Cricket Board of India (BCCI) waited for the last 48 hours for Captain Virat Kohli to voluntarily step down from the captaincy of the ODI team but he did not do so. So, BCCI decided and declare that Rohit Sharma will be the new ODI Captain.

Kohli’s dismissal was not even mentioned in the BCCI statement. BCCI only tweet, “The All-India Senior Selection Committee also decided to name Mr Rohit Sharma as the Captain of the ODI & T20I teams going forward. #TeamIndia | @ImRo45

The All-India Senior Selection Committee also decided to name Mr Rohit Sharma as the Captain of the ODI & T20I teams going forward.#TeamIndia | @ImRo45 pic.twitter.com/hcg92sPtCa
— BCCI (@BCCI) December 8, 2021

With this tweet of BCCI, Kohli’s near five-year-long limited-over captaincy tenure has come to an end.

Rohit took over as India’s T20I skipper after the T20 World Cup, guided India to a 3-0 victory over New Zealand in the just-finished three-match T20I series. With Kohli having already stepped down as India’s T20I captain, it was only a matter of time until Rohit assumed command of the limited-overs side. He was also titled India’s vice-captain in Tests, serving as Kohli’s deputy and succeeding an out-of-form Ajinkya Rahane.

Rohit has less than a year to prepare for the T20 World Cup, which will be held in Australia next year, and the 50-over World Cup, which will be held in India in 2023. The two next ICC events offer to be the biggest challenge for Team India since the Rohit Sharma-Rahul Dravid combo took over.

The captaincy period of Kohli has been a wonderful story in itself. The ‘cool’ Mahendra Singh Dhoni groomed Kohli under his leadership and then when he felt that the time had come, he handed over the responsibility of the white ball to him. In the next two years, Kohli became the mighty captain of the team who would do things on his own terms.
The post BCCI appoints Rohit Sharma as India ODI Captain; Kohli fans under the rage first appeared on Jugaadin News .

Big shocking news for the Indian Fans Rohit Sharma ruled out from the New Zealand Tour due to injury in fifth and last T -20 match of the series in Mount Maunganui.
According to news, Mayank Aggarwal is in the team for ODI series against New Zealand and Shubhman Gill got a chance in a test match for New Zealand Series at the place of Rohit Sharma.
