										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>India</strong> hosted the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi from September 27 to October 5. The 12th edition of the Championships featured <strong>186 medal</strong> events (101 men’s, 84 women’s, and one mixed) — five more than the last edition.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">Indian para-athletes delivered their best-ever performance, winning a total of <strong>22</strong> <strong>medals</strong> — 6 Gold, 9 Silver, and 7 Bronze.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">Previous record: <strong>17 medals</strong> at Kobe 2024 (6 Gold, 5 Silver, and 6 Bronze).</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>India finished 10th in the medal tally</strong>, while <strong>Brazil</strong> topped the table with <strong>44 medals</strong> (15 Gold, 20 Silver, and 9 Bronze). <strong>China</strong> finished second with <strong>52 medals</strong> (13 Gold, 22 Silver, and 17 Bronze), having more overall medals but fewer golds than <strong>Brazil</strong>.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>A historic performance by our para-athletes!</strong></h2>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">“This year’s World Para Athletics Championships have been very special. The Indian contingent had its best-ever performance, winning 22 medals, including 6 Gold Medals. Congrats to our athletes — their success will inspire several people. I am proud of each and every member of our contingent and wish them the very best for their future endeavours.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">Hosting the tournament in Delhi has also been an honour for India. Gratitude to athletes and support staff from almost 100 nations who were a part of the tournament.”</p>
